I’m a director, writer, theatre-maker and researcher working across Ireland and England. Throughout my career, I have been passionate about developing new work and creating theatre that brings together artists, communities, and audiences.
As a director, my work includes the Irish premiere of Iphigenia in Splott at Smock Alley Theatre, Disco Pigs and Sucking Dublin—which won Best Ensemble at The Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards—and the celebrated production of Trainspotting at the Olympia Theatre, Dublin.
Alongside directing, I write for theatre. My work includes the critically acclaimed Strike!, which received its London premiere at Southwark Playhouse, and Sisters – A New Irish Musical at the Mill Theatre. Developing and nurturing new writing, whether my own or in collaboration with others, remains at the heart of my creative practice.
My journey began as an actor before expanding into community arts and theatre-making, experiences that continue to shape my practice today. As a founding member of the award-winning Studio 3 Arts in East London, Angels Theatre Company, The Work Theatre Collective, and more recently freerein theatre, I have spent more than two decades devising, facilitating and developing original work in collaboration with artists and communities in a wide range of settings.
My work has taken me across Ireland, England and the United States, including the San Jose Office of Cultural Affairs and serving as Guest Artistic Director at the Ashland New Plays Festival in Oregon. These experiences have deepened my commitment to theatre as a space for dialogue and social engagement.
I trained at E15 Acting School and later completed an MA in Theatre and Performance Studies at University College Dublin. More recently, I graduated with a practice-as-research PhD at University of Sussex, exploring The Artist as Activist in Contemporary Theatre. The research brought together many of the themes that have shaped my work throughout my career: participation, collaboration, social change and the power of storytelling.
I'm always interested in new collaborations and conversations, so please feel free to get in touch.
